Golden Heritage Club members (past students that left the College 50+ years ago), were invited ‘Back to the Classroom’ today to be interview by Yr 6 students. Students were delighted with stories from ‘back in the day’ and Old Boys enjoyed telling a few tall stories! Many thanks to those that attended, Yr 6 students, Head of Junior School Mr Martin Tucker (’87), Junior School teachers; Miss Natalie Kenny, Mr Tony Maxfield (’79) and Mr James Quin for embracing this most enjoyable event #tcspirit
Another fantastic day at the TOBA Winter Sports Day on Sunday. The TC/TOBA community was out in force supporting teams. TOBA won overall, winning the cross country, football, hockey and rugby – soccer was a draw.
Congrats to John Hansen (’57) for being awarded the medal for TC spirit. John never misses this event and although he doesn’t run on to the field, he wields a pair of tongs to cook for hungry players – thanks for your tireless work John!
Thanks to TC and TOBA coaches, managers, players and families that support this event. Also thanks to the trophies namesake Brendan Ryan (’91) for attending the day with his father Michael. Special thanks to Graham ‘Kiwi’ Warner and his team for keeping the Waterford grounds in impeccable condition.
Another great day shared #tcspirit #TOBA
A terrific group of Old Boys living in (and visiting) Melbourne braved the cold conditions to gather together for the annual Melbourne Reunion. Year groups ranged from 1951 – 2007, with Frank O’Connell (’51) crowned oldest and Binuk Kodituwakku (’07) youngest in attendance. A wonderful night shared with a delightful group of men.
Special mention to those that traveled to Melbourne to be part of this event, including Frank O’Connell (’51), Charles Foti (’63), David Foti (’89) and Robert Foti (’92).
Thanks to Breck Hilton (’75) for scoping out venues for the get together and to those that supported and attended this event. #tcspirit #tcbrotherhood#tccamaraderie
The TOBA and TC community celebrated Trinity Sunday with Mass followed by a lovely ‘bring and share’ morning tea in the Staff Lounge. Golden Heritage Club members attended the Trinity vs Aquinas fixture at Waterford recently. The day commenced with TC Director of Sport providing an update on the PSA and how sport has changed since his time at the College. Br John Carrigg followed with a wonderful history lesson on the PSA before the group enjoyed afternoon tea and barracked for TC on the sidelines.
The pavilion at Waterford is named after the late Timothy Megaw (’40) and we thank Mrs Hazel Megaw for attending with her son Michael Megaw (’66) and daughter-in-law Marie.
Sporting results for the day were:
Hockey 6-0 win to Aquinas
Rugby 41-24 win to Trinity
Soccer 2-1 win to Aquinas
Football 15.10 100 to 10.8. 68 win to Trinity
Cross country 190-276 win to Trinity
Badminton 6-3 win to Trinity
A wonderful afternoon!
Another massive afternoon at the TOBA Sportsmen’s Lunch last Friday. The Ballroom at the Duxton Hotel (old CBC Perth site) was at capacity and the camaraderie and brotherhood in the room was palpable. Guest speaker, Mike Whitney was piped in to the room by TC students, Zachary Hayward and Alex Pagano before TOBA President, Peter Torre (’89) commenced proceedings with a drink to absent friends and glasses were raised. A surprise TOBA honorary life membership was awarded to the amazing, Tony Curtis (’56). Mike Whitney didn’t disappoint with his tales of cricket and impersonations of famous players. MC, Mark Readings (’87) was, as always, outstanding! This event is TOBA’s marquee event to raise funds for much needed bursaries to provide opportunities for boys to attend this wonderful College who, due to financial constraints, would not otherwise be able to enjoy a TC education, so we sincerely thank our sponsors, supporters and attendees. We look forward to getting together with you again next year!
A group of CBC Perth Old Boys gathered together yesterday for their annual April Reunion at Kailis Restaurant. A huge thank you to Michael Kailis (‘50) for his hospitality and his staff for the sensational meal and service. Special thanks also to our guest speaker, Peter Kennedy (’59) for his talk about all things politics and football. Congratulations to John Parker (‘50 ) for winning the raffle prize, a copy of Peter Kennedy’s book ‘Tales From Boom Town’. A great afternoon shared by a wonderful bunch of men #tcspirit
